THE IMPORTANCE OF GIVING

Updated: Aug 26, 2020

#GivingTuesday is a global movement. Join people around the world by donating to your favorite charities.

Hey, friends it’s #GivingTuesday! Nonprofits are hustling out there today to get your attention. I want to share with you how critical today is. Individuals and communities across the country rely on non-profits to fill in the gaps (when there are no other resources available) in times of need. YOUR generous gifts help advocate for the neediest in our state, keep teens in school, fill empty bellies, and develop talented individuals for the future. Below are three of my favorite charities, currently doing important work in our communities:

1)  GRACE – GRACE works with community organizations to help end child poverty in California through education and advocacy across the state. California has the highest rate of child poverty in the country, 20.6%, almost 2 million children according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s Supplemental Poverty Measure, which accounts for cost of living. This is an atrocity, and child poverty in our state is something we can help eradicate.

2) Teen Parent Connection – Works with teen parents to help develop life skills and provide for their young ones. Teen Parent Connection works with more than 500 teen parents annually, providing them with support, education, and every day necessities as they embark on the daunting reality of becoming teen parents.

3) Vicente Chamber Orchestra – Develops young musicians and provides several classical concerts in the Los Angeles area. If you LOVE music, THIS is the charity for you!

Thank you for your generosity!
